BUILD THE FUTURE
Ukrainian orphans need
your help
We are building a kindergarten and preschool for over 60 children
Our Ukrainian refugees
When Rabbi Teichtal received a call for help from the Jewish orphanage in Odessa at the beginning of March and saw the touching pictures of the orphans singing and hiding in the basement from the air raids, he acted immediately and set everything in motion to bring the 120 children and staff to Berlin in a night and fog operation. How was unclear at first, but with the help of various governments and helpers, the protégés arrived safely in Berlin after 52 hours of travel through 5 countries.
In just a few days, more than 200 other families from Odessa, Kiev and Dnipro followed. In total, Chabad now cares for almost 350 refugees, including 160 children.

Construction project kindergarten and preschool for Ukrainian refugee children
Now that the refugees are slowly settling in, we have to provide daily care and education for the 160 children in our care. For the bigger children we are working on a solution with the existing structures, but at the moment the existing container kindergarten is only sufficient for about 20 children.
For this purpose, we want to enlarge our kindergarten and also establish a preschool in order to be able to provide permanent care for more than 60 refugee children under the age of 7.
Planned are 6 container rooms plus the necessary sanitary facilities. The planned construction project costs 600.000€ plus 60.000€ for the interior design.
Our children
We are proud of how the children are coping with the traumatic experiences of the last weeks and are doing everything to give them back a piece of normality. Our planned building project of the extension of our kindergarten and the establishment of a preschool will form another important milestone for their future.

About Chabad
In 1996, Yehuda and Leah Teichtal came to Berlin on a one-way ticket from New York, with the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson in mind to strengthen light and active Jewish life in Berlin and to ensure positive coexistence for all people. Meanwhile, Chabad Lubavitch Berlin is one of the most active Jewish communities in Germany and has been working for over 25 years to enrich Jewish life in Berlin, to strengthen the Jewish identity of the community and to secure the Jewish future in Germany.
Values such as kindness, openness, tolerance and optimism are now lived out by seven other rabbinic couples and around 100 employees in three synagogue and community centers throughout Berlin. Chabad wants to create general tolerance and a warm, positive togetherness for all people in the entire German society and to reduce prejudices and fear of contact between people.
We are looking forward to your visit!
